HONDA CRF450

The ManFunnel was designed to put an end to this
headache once and for all. Never again remove
the skid plate to change your oil. The funnel
is heat stabilized injection molded plastic so it is
going to last. Take a look at the following pictures
to see how it actually works. Click on any of the
pictures to enlarge them. Actual funnel is red, yellow
prototype shown in pictures and video.

Gasket installation:
Before the ManFunnel can be used you Please install
the supplied foam gasket. Make sure that the funnel
is clean and free from debris before installing the
foam. Remove the backing to expose the adhesive.
Starting with the "notched" side, align top edge
of the foam with the top of the funnel with the die
cut notch of the foam centered in the corresponding
notch on the funnel. Wrap the foam around the first
corner at a slight upward angle. As you round the
second corner and smooth the remainder down the foam
should be approximately 1/8 of an inch above the
funnel lip. This rise above the funnel opposite the
notch is imperative to ensure proper a seal due to
the complex contouring of the cases. See diagram for
a clear illustration.

The foam should be adhered flush with the top of the
funnel on the notched side then rise above the
funnel across the back and around the opposite side
to achieve the 1/8" rise.
|

A proper fit is key to success. Ensure that the funnel
clips on to the frame and seals properly behind the
tranny bolt. Don't forget to pull the vent
hoses out of the way! |
Bottom View

Getting the funnel to seat around the serial number
tab is the most important step. The foam should be
pressed against the case forming a leak proof seal.

The WR-YZ250F Man Funnel

YZ450F Frame Drain Bolt
Yamaha revolutionized 4-stroke motorcross and off-road
bikes in 1998 with the release of the YZ and WR400F.
In 2001 while others were playing catch-up they
introduced the YZ and WR250F which has become one of
the top selling bikes in America. Like all modern day
thumpers the Yamaha 250F's are built for performance,
not ease of maintenance. This is apparent with the
location of the drain bolts on the 250F.
The first is located on the frame down tube. When the
bolt is extracted it spews oil out and you are lucky
if you can keep it from soiling your front wheel. The
second drain bolt is recessed back above the frame
rail under the shifter. During a routine oil change
draining the oil can quickly become a messy task as
the oil flows directly onto the frame rail and all
over the stand, floor or worse yet, it pools in your
skid plate.
The YZ250F ManFunnel is a 2-piece design that
eliminates the mess associated with both drain holes.
First the frame harness, the pewter piece, clips on to
the frame down tube and the funnel snaps into place
creating a simple solution to routing used oil out and
away from the bike with out the mess. For the second
application the funnel portion is used by itself to
drain the motor oil by clipping onto the frame rail
and extending under the drain bolt creating a bridge
between the gap of the drain hole and frame rail.
Again it routes used oil out and away from the bike
with out the mess.
As with all of the Man Funnels it acts as a filling
funnel to put oil back in the bike as well. It works
on the frame fill spouts on the 01-02 models as well
as the motor fill holes on the 03-04 models.
Is it going to add horsepower? NO. Is it going to make
you faster? NO. Will it save you time, frustration and
clean-up? Oh YES! |

Step 1: Proper Frame Drain Bolt Fit
After cleaning all dirt from the bike that may
prevent proper fitting. Heat the bike per
specification in owners manual. Then install the
funnel as shown. (see image 1, 2 & 3)
|

A proper fit is key to success. Ensure that the frame
harness clips on to the frame and seals properly.
|

Place funnel onto frame harness. These pieces are
male/female mated, ensure that they are mated
properly.
|
|
Once a proper fit and seal has been established
place your drain bucket beneath the funnel.

Step 2: Drain the Frame Oil
With your drain pan under the funnel and remove the
frame drain bolt. Allow oil to drain completely |
Step 3: Install the Frame Drain Bolt
Reinstall drain bolt to MFG specified torque. |

Step 4: Proper Motor Drain Bolt Fit
After cleaning all dirt from the bike that may
prevent proper fitting. Heat the bike per
specification in owners manual. Then install the
funnel as shown. (see image 1, 2 & 3)
|
|

A proper fit is key to success. Ensure that the funnel
clips on to the frame and extends under motor oil
drain bolt for a proper seal. |

Funnel armature should clip onto the frame as
illustrated.

Step 5: Drain the Motor Oil
With your drain pan under the funnel and remove the
motor oil drain bolt. Allow oil to drain completely. |
Step 6: Install the Motor Oil Drain Bolt
Reinstall drain bolt to MFG specified torque. |
Step 7: Fill With Oil
Use the ManFunnel to fill the motor
oil. Insert the ManFunnel into the down tube or fill
hole, depending on year model. Pour in your new oil
as per specified by your manual for both type and
amount. By using the funnel for filling you reduce
the risk of knocking dirt and or debris into the
down tube/fill hole with your oil and it is much
easier and cleaner than pouring from a bottle or
ratio cup.
