HITCH MOUNTED MOTORCYCLE CARRIER

About R and R
Fabricating, Inc., and what makes the "The Rack" different from the
rest.
First of all they fabricate the entire Rack. The 12 gauge steel
deck and ramp are sheared and formed by the people at R and R
Fabricating. The Rack is welded by people who weld every day and not by
someone who just happens to have a welder in his garage. The welds on
The Rack are more like art than welds. Just take the time to look at
the construction of the rack and notice that the motorcycle sits
on a deck supported at the front and rear wheel. Your tie
downs are put through dropped forged eyelets that are 100% welded (all
the way around) to The Rack. The ramp is held in place by two hairpin
cotter keys. The Rack is a very simple and stable design. It is welded
in a fixture for accuracy and all the welds are made in the flat
position using a rollover stand. This makes it sturdy because it
has no bolts. It is one piece (excluding the ramp). That means there
are no bolts to loosen up. The Rack stores very easily without going
through the hassles of disassembly.
According to R and R Fabricating, Inc.,
some of the competitors simply bolt a piece of structural steel "C"
channel to a piece of tube. They have a small cross bar that hold the
tie downs to your bike. Some of them do not have supports under the
front or rear wheel.
One more thing they only build single motorcycle racks. They
could build multiple motorcycle racks but simply most vehicles have a
hitch rating of 500 lbs. If two of even the lightest motocross bikes
(220 lbs. each dry), in combination with the Rack (about 65 to 85
lbs.) and the distance from the bumper it may exceed the hitch
capability. Not to mention the adverse effects on how a vehicle
handles.
Shipping on The Rack is a little higher than some if it's
competitors because it utilizes all welded construction and requires a
custom built shipping container. All of The Racks are shipped using
ground transit type trucking services. Price includes shipping
within the continental United States.
