Fork Coating
by Miedoso Racing
A Fork Coating that helps reduce stiction.
|
Forslyk is a fork coating that helps
reduce stiction that is applied by spraying onto the fork.
Over 20 chemicals that work together to form a super slick molecular
bonding coat on forks , none which are petroleum based. It
won't wash off or mix with fork oils. Not a wax or an oil.
Thoroughly tried and tested by Miedoso Racing.
Miedoso Racing
knows that there will be some skeptical people until they use
Forslyk. (Go see the forums that we posted lower down the
page to see reviews of unknown users.) Even their test
riders didn't believe it until they tried it. They only had one
complaint, which is normal when taking away friction. Their
suspension was too soft. This is due to the friction between the
rubber seal and metal fork leg was holding the suspension back from
utilizing it's valving correctly. Thus, they stiffened up their
compression and rebound a couple of clicks, and were amazed at the
difference this product made.
There are two reasons that Forslyk helps reduce arm pump.
First, when you initially hit a braking bump, the forks have an
initial thud which you feel all the way up to your handlebars due to
the rubber seal needing to break loose from the dry metal fork leg.
This is eliminated with Forslyk to a certain degree. Anyone who says
they can get rid of 100% stiction is incorrect, since this is
impossible. Everything rubbing against one another causes friction.
Forslyk just drastically decreases this stiction. The second reason
it helps with arm pump is suspension 101. The stiffer you set
compression (to a certain point), the plusher it is on the small
bumps, but too harsh for the larger jumps. Although by using the
hardest settings, you stop using the full amount of travel and it
feels like your bike is set up to do a supercross event. With
Forslyk, your suspension isn't held back by the stiction, thus is
able to utilize the full travel based on the internal valving, and
not the seal. On of the manufacture testers reported the on his own
bike, he personally went from the softer side of compression (4
clicks from the softest) to only 2 clicks from the stiffest. Each
person prefers different settings, but he sets up his motocross bike
up to only bottom 1 or 2 times in a given lap. Prior to Forslyk, at
2 clicks from the stiffest, his bike felt harsh and he pumped
very fast. After putting on Forslyk, it felt like the braking bumps
almost disappeared. He said that he can go more laps without
pumping up now, and feel faster going through sections that he was
nervous about hitting hard before.

Here is what Brandon Hass has to say about
Forslyk
Hey, just got back like an hour ago, with Forslyk it felt really good. It
was soft and needed to be stiffened a click or two, but it felt really
good. The main places I noticed was that it seemed to stick in bumpy ruts
a lot better, and smoother on the braking bumps coming down hills. I
think all around it helped, and for the first time going down there being
out of shape, I never got arm pump, and my fingers didn't get sore. My
body was shot before my hands and arms were. The trip went awesome, and
my family and I are heading down there again Thursday. We're going to get
my 250F Race bike all dialed in. This is a Please have product for
everyone, I won't ride without it again. |

Forslyk Stiction Test |
|
Try the stiction test:
Apply pressure on the front brake, step down on the foot peg, (while you are
standing beside the bike not on it.) If you rear end drops, but the front
of the bike does not, or you can tell it is sticking. There is a good chance
you have stiction. |

Forslyk Installation Instructions |
|
This process is super easy and
can be put on by almost everyone who can take their front wheel off and
replace it without any problem.
1. Shake bottle well.
2. The room temperature while putting this on, needs to be
70 degrees or warmer, since it requires some drying of the chemicals,
and they may separate at temps lower than that.
3. Raise front of bike up, raising front tire off the ground.
4. Take off all parts surrounding fork legs for access. (fork guards, dust
boots etc, no need to take apart forks or take off seals)
5. Spray 5-6 pumps of cleaner on inner fork tubes.
6. Wipe all oil residue and dirt off fork tubes.
7. Wipe fork legs with clean dry paper towel.
8. Drop approximately 8-10 drops of Forslyk on to paper towel per fork leg
and spread it all over the fork leg, with some rubbing.
9. Let dry for 5 minutes or dry with warm heat for 30 seconds. Will become
milky white filmed.
10. Wipe off fork leg with dry clean paper towel.
11. Apply second coat of Forslyk, same as first coat for best results.
(Do not use cleaner again)
12. Put parts on fork legs back together.
13. You are finished, and your forks are Forslyk.
14. You will need to recoat your forks once or twice every season or as needed.
